Mr. Conoley:
USS Arikara was received by the Chilean Navy on 01 july 1971 with the name
"Sargento Aldea". He was a hero of Naval Combat of Iquique, on 21
may 1879. During 21years sailed in many places of Chile, from Antartic to
Arica, sometimes independent or together with our fleet. It was decomissioned on 14 august 1992. It was sunk when used as
artillery target. I send a photo.
